NO FOOD SCRAPS COLLECTIONS IN PARTS OF PAPATOETOE AND MĀNGERE

Temporary suspension of food scraps service while important restrictions are in place.

On 3 January 2025, a single male Oriental fruit fly was found in this area. Exotic fruit flies are harmful to our home gardens and horticulture industry, and must be eradicated. Biosecurity New Zealand, part of the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI), is responding to the discovery and restrictions on how we manage fruit, vegetables and garden waste are in place.

These restrictions mean we need to make some changes to kerbside collections, especially food scraps, until further notice.

Visit biosecurity.govt.nz/fruitfly for information and detailed maps.
